It’s Not the End of the World – Bob Perfect

Ground Culture Cafe 170 Lower Main Road, Observatory, Cape Town, Western Cape Province, South Africa

In 2019, Bob Perfect performed a show called The End of the World. Once. Because, well, he was a bit too prescient. Soon after performing the show, the world ground to a halt and things haven't been the same since. Living through unprecedented times feels like microdosing the apocalypse daily, yet, life goes on. So Bob has reworked the show with new jokes and fresh perspectives as It's Not The End of the World. Come laugh in the face of extinction as Bob Perfect examines the straw that broke the turtle's nose. Will we descend into a Mad Max future as Global Warming gets worse or will Elon Musk's killer cars put us out of our misery before we get there? Only time will tell but we might as well have a laugh about it all now - while we still can. Come join Bob as he works out the kinks with a work-in-progress performance of the show at Ground Culture on the 30th of April. Tickets are R80 online, and R100 at the door. Show starts at 20:00 sharp so pull in early for the tastiest burgers in Cape Town.

ALMOST S*X JOKES – Callum Hitchcock

Ground Culture Cafe 170 Lower Main Road, Observatory, Cape Town, Western Cape Province, South Africa

Callum Hitchcock is a rising star of South African comedy, dosed up on whatever TikTok is prescribing for ADHD, armed with a Political Science “degree” and a superiority complex. He’s a man who is ready to performatively admit that he can see how he’s been performing vulnerability for applause. (But like… in a clever way.) In Almost Sex Jokes, Callum stares down the shame, guilt, and inherited weirdness of being a white South African with too many tabs open. It’s a brutally funny, unexpectedly honest, and occasionally profound dive into everything he’s been too embarrassed to say until now — about love, power, porn, race, ambition, depression, and the maddening pursuit of being liked. This is not a show about sex. It’s a show about almost everything — identity, intimacy, inaction, and the absurdity of trying to live a meaningful life when nothing really means anything (unless you say it does). It’s witty, messy and sincere. It’s almost what you think it is. Come for the jokes. Stay for the existential reckoning. Laugh like your therapist isn’t watching. DETAILS Ground Culture Cafe 170 Lower Main Road, Observatory 8 & 10 May 2025 19:30 R100 via Quicket // R150 at the door (Doors open from 18:00 so that you can grab a bite to eat before the show – Ground Culture’s burgers are obscenely good!) ABOUT CALLUM HITCHCOCK Callum Hitchcock is an award-winning comedian known for his sharp wit, self-aware humor, and ability to find absurdity in everything. After winning the 2024 Savanna Newcomer of the Year Award, he’s been billed as a rising star in the South African comedy scene, having performed on stages nationwide with his offbeat perspective and thought-provoking punchlines. Callum has featured on Comedy Central’s ‘Savanna Comedy Bar’, been a regular on the ‘Comedy Report’ segment of the popular eTV show, ‘The Last Word with Shahan Ramkissoon’ and he’s also a regular player on the SAFTA-winning web-series, Politically Aweh. Callum’s debut solo show, Almost S*x Jokes, is set to premiere with a work-in-progress show at Ground Culture Cafe’ in Observatory Cape Town on the 8th & 10th of May — promising a hilarious deep dive into love, modern contradictions, and existential dread. Beyond stand-up, he’s a sought-after comedy writer, MC, actor and just generally an attention-seeker across multiple mediums. When he’s not on stage, he’s perched at home with his wife, his cats and his sports-themed mugs. Follow him on social media for bad opinions on almost everything. ——- See you there! Almost dirty.
