Ground Culture Cafe was founded in 2020, in an attempt to bridge the gap between the formal and informal sectors. We wanted to create a space that is welcoming to everyone, regardless of demographics or culture. We believe that in order to solve South Africa’s problems, we need to come together and build a united “Grounded Culture”.
The cafe started with only R50 000, which bought a coffee machine, a toasted sandwich maker, 6 tables and some chairs. For the last 3 years, our entire team has put blood sweat and tears into building everything else you see. We wanted to show that you don’t need lots of money to start a business; you just need determination.
Our food is inspired by the superior quality of South African ingredients. There’s something for everyone, but if you really want to taste quality ingredients at their finest, we recommend the burgers. They’re juicy, delicious and full of freshness.
